Apes Septic Tank Pumping in Prescott, Arizona, knows that effluent filters help extend the life of your septic system. We recommend that you clean the filter once or twice a year, depending on the size of your family.
"Its like changing the oil in your car. The better you take care of it the better it will take care of you."
This is an example of cleaning an effluent filter. This is the newest and most common yellow filter. They are flexible and very easy to work with. Some of the older filters are rigged plastic and may need to be twisted to be removed.
Simply reach down and pull the filter out either by hand or use a hook of some kind if the filter is out of reach.
Hose the filter off back into front (primary chamber) of the tank. Remember rules 1 and 2. You may want to wear safty or sun glasses.
Place clean effluent filter back into outlet baffle.
Push filter down into the outlet baffle until it is fully seated. There is an arrow that should be pointed out toward the discharge line.
Your finished! Now go wash up and take a break. You deserve it.
